Confidence is one of the few brands out there who know exactly how to meet the needs of the affordable market. Their treadmills are extremely focused and streamlined towards one goal only, and that is delivering a good workout on a budget. Power Plus model which we are looking at today is a great example of this. It is by far one of the most capable treadmills you can get for cheap. As we go in for a closer look, you will see just what kind of performance you can expect to get.
There is a very simple way to describe Confidence Power Plus. It is about as simple as a treadmill can get. Every component was designed with pure minimalism in mind. Naturally, this is to be expected in this price range, but it is also a good thing for a number of reasons. Lets start with the frame. Belt and the drive system behind are fixed to a pair of tubes. Those are in turn bolted to the main metal frame which provides stability and houses the control unit. On a first look, the whole setup might look a bit too weak, but it isn’t. The motor on this thing is sub 1 HP unit. That makes it a perfect choice for walking, but not an ideal unit for light jogging although it can be used as such. More intensive running is already pushing it. As for the belt, it is 38.5″ by 14″. You may not have as much space as we’d like to see, but it is sufficient for most applications.
Features that Confidence Power Plus brings are not that numerous. On the contrary, there are quite few to speak of. Control unit is pretty small and simple, which indicates that youwon’t see complicated fitness programs or anything similar in there. Still, there is a very rudimentary display and a couple of controls. You can manually set the speed using the plus and minus buttons, while the Mode button allows you to check various stats. Even though the entire thing is simple, you still get the safety key, which we find to be an important safety feature. Here’s the thing though, because the frame is so modular and because the control unit is so small, you can completely eliminate the main portion of the frame. What you are left with is an independent belt and a control unit that can be fixed to just about anything. You are probably wondering what is this good for? The answer is a walking desk. Combine a standing desk with a treadmill such as this one, and you have a very healthy workspace at home or in the office.
At the end of the day, there are definitely better treadmills on the market in this price range. However, we can still a very real reason why you might consider Confidence Power Plus over other alternatives. The fact that you can remove the main portion of the frame and bolt that tiny control unit to desk, makes it a very good choice for walking desk use. Again, it’s worth keeping in mind that walking is indeed the application Power Plus was built for. Jogging is possible but anything more intense than that will most likely push the treadmill too far.
