When you are shopping for a treadmill, there are numerous factors to take under consideration. Most people focus on the motor, incline selection, features and similar things. However, belt size and design is something that we have to think about as well. Merit Fitness 725T Plus is one of those options that delivers a large belt to those who need it. It is also one of the most impressive treadmills you can get for $500 or less.
For the most part, Merit Fitness 725T Plus features an already familiar core design. We have a strong, tubular metal frame that supports running surface as well as the control module. However, the size of the belt becomes instantly apparent as soon as you put this bad boy together. It is a 50″ by 18″ unit that features cushioning. One of the concerns many have with big belts has to do with how smooth the belt runs. With Merit Fitness 725T Plus, you really have nothing to worry about. It doesn’t fall out of alignment, nor does it need constant tuneup. The control module is rather large. We have seen some pretty large modules before, but this one definitely takes the cake. In all honesty, that’s not a bad thing since everything is laid out quite intuitively. When it’s time to pack it up, all you have to do is fold the treadmill and roll it to its storage. For such a big model, it folds up quite nicely.
The features on this thing are simply amazing. Aside from motorized incline control, you have a variety of programs to access. The cool thing is that these programs include mountain walking, cardio training, endurance training and more. Additionally, all of these have their own dedicated buttons. Display is fairly simple, but simplicity is not necessarily bad. Even though it falls behind in complexity, the display on this treadmill is actually much more practical and functional than many of those fancy massive ones. What really drew us towards this particular model was its no nonsense approach to features and performance. You got a 2.25 hp motor pushing a wide belt up to 10 mph, proper cushioning under said belt and a solid frame supporting the whole thing. Every other feature is a good bonus, but we like to see the basics covered. Speaking of additional features, this treadmill also comes with a heart rate monitor.
When all is said and done, Merit Fitness 725T Plus might just be the very best option on the market in this particular price range. It has all the features and then some, packs enough power and has proven to be extremely reliable. The only issue some users might have is its large footprint. Even though it folds up quite nicely, it is still a fairly large treadmill when set up for use. With all that said, Merit Fitness 725T Plus is about as good of a machine as you can get for this kind of money at the moment.
