ProForm is no stranger to high end treadmills. They have basically perfected their designs and ironed out all the quirks in more affordable segments of the market. The fact that we see many of the same solutions being used across different market segments is actually a good thing. ProForm ZT10 shows us just how far you can get by using this approach. So much so that it is by far one of the most capable treadmills you can get for $2000 or less. Here’s what makes it so good.
To say that ProForm ZT10 is a compact treadmill would be an overstatement. ProForm has this thing where they keep making their control modules larger and larger as you go up the price ladder. Not that doing so is a bad thing, but it definitely impacts the overall design. Speaking of which, ZT10 offers the standard stuff. By that we mean a rock solid frame, good bracing and plenty of stability. ProForm was never a company that focused much on aesthetics, which ZT10 reiterates. One awesome thing about this treadmill is the fact that you can pack it up. Even as we reach higher end models, the folding design still hasn’t found an appropriate alternative. In this case, we are glad because that 60″ by 20″ belt isn’t easy to tuck into a compact package. Whether or not ZT10 is attractive is a completely personal thing. As always looks come in a distant second place compared to hardware quality.
Looking at the features we see a lot of good things. Especially if you are interested in the core hardware of a treadmill, as you should be. ProForm went with a powerful 3 hp motor that runs smooth and silent. they have paired this with a very durable motorized incline solution. You can choose an incline from 0% all the way up to 15%. On top of all that, the belt sits on their advanced ProShox cushioning technology. If you were wondering what it feels like to run on a treadmill without your ankles hating you later, you need to try this one. In terms of control module features, there are plenty. One thing we have found to be interesting is the display. It is the same unit they have used on other, cheaper models but it still looks pretty good. This treadmill comes packed with your usual stuff such as presets and various fitness programs, but it also comes with iFit support and a variety of other apps. As a matter of fact it offers for plenty of ways to monitor your progress.
