Recumbent bikes are all about simplicity. If you take 10 random models across various price ranges, you will find that their core design is more or less the same. However, there are always outliers. Stamina Elite Total Body is a different kind of machine. As it turns out, it is one of the most capable recumbent bikes you can find these days. Don’t let the looks fool you, this machine is more than capable of giving you a good workout. Lets take a closer look.
We all know how recumbent bikes work. You have a flywheel with a couple of pedals attached to it, which offers resistance and simulates the real thing. Stamina Elite basically sat down and said, why don’t we put another flywheel on there so we could train the arms as well? Essentially that’s what Total Body recumbent bike offers. Two flywheels for a total body exercise. The design of the bike itself is fairly standard but also very decent. They made sure to meet the necessary levels of comfort as well as durability. Even with the additional mass sitting so high up, this bike is light enough for you to move it around with ease. One thing we really like is the fact that those built in wheels are pretty beefy compared to what most other brands offer. Seat is surprisingly comfortable and ergonomic. It is also padded with a rather decent material. You can adjust the seat by changing elevation as well as the distance from the flywheel.
When it comes to features, Stamina Elite Total Body recumbent bike is somewhat behind the curve. To give you a good example, resistance selection is done the old school way with a knob. There is no computer controlled resistance management, nor are there built in workout presets. That is probably the only real flaw of this bike. When you sit down and look in front of you, you will notice a small display. It is a simple but very legible LCD unit that displays all the relevant stats. You can monitor your heart rate, speed, calories burned, workout time and so forth. Another thing to keep in mind is that the secondary flywheel doesn’t have variable resistance. It was meant to keep your arms busy but not really push them too hard. Even though that does sound disappointing, you would be surprised by just how much of an exercise that fixed resistance can be when you go full tilt on the main flywheel.
At the end of the day you have to ask yourself what kind of bike you are after. Stamina Elite’s Total Body recumbent bike is far from orthodox, but also brings great value to the table. When you get past how gimmicky the upper set of pedals look, you will realize that they really do add to the exercise potential. At this price, Stamina Elite Total Body is a decent option. Needless to say, this type of machine is perfect for those who are just getting into the fitness game, as well as elderly users who want to stay fit.
