Finding a mid ranged, well balanced recumbent bike has proven to be harder than it initially seemed to be. You either have really expensive, decked out models or basic, simple bikes. Xterra SB2.5r comes in somewhere in the middle. With that said, it is one of the most capable recumbent bikes you can find, especially in this price range. Today we are going to give it a closer look and see what exactly SB2.5r has to offer. Lets get to it.
Looking at the Xterra SB2.5r reveals two things about its design. For one, it was obviously made to be robust, stable and durable. The way they mounted the seat and the flywheel assembly on to the frame reveals that much. The second thing that is apparent is its modular nature. If you look at the frame, you will notice that it is a standard H pattern. However, the cross member can be disassembled which allows for easier storage and transportation of the bike. Then we have the levelers found on rear of the frame that ensure your bike will always be level. The seat is mounted on a skid and is adjusted by pulling the pin and selecting one of the numerous preset holes. Overall the functionality of its design is quite refreshing when you compare it to similar models. One thing we especially like is the angle of the seat. It gives you a proper reclined position.
In terms of features, there is quite a bit to cover. At the core of Xterra SB2.5r sits a 22lb flywheel. It runs extremely smoothly and silently, which ensures a challenging yet fluid workout. The seat is padded both on the back rest and the seat itself. In terms of comfort, it is pretty decent. As expected, the heart rate sensors are mounted on the side handles and are positioned in a very natural way. The control module is a thing of beauty. It packs24 different programs, including 12 preset and a whole array of specialized workout routines. Manual resistance selection comes in form of 24 different levels, all of which are accessible through the control module. Display unit is impressive. We have a dual color LCD display which is very easy to read and follow. Controls are located right underneath and come in form of clearly labeled buttons. Needless to say, navigating various features of this module is very easy.
If we had to describe the Xterra SB2.5r in any specific way, we would call it the best bang for the buck option in the mid range segment. It really does it all. You get a very sturdy and secure frame, plenty of awesome features, comfortable seat that can be adjusted easily and so much more. The performance aspect is clear cut as well. Flywheel which they chose for this model is impressive to say the least. There’s enough potential in this bike to cover all of your fitness needs and keep you challenged each time you use it.
